Safety Tips
Vuxsy is built for safe, local, second-hand trade across Ireland. A few simple habits keep buying and selling smooth and secure for everyone.
Meeting buyers and sellers
Meet in a busy, public place during daylight - a shopping centre car park or a town centre works well. Bring a friend for higher-value items, tell someone where you're going, and trust your instincts: if something feels off, walk away.
Avoiding scams
Be cautious of deals that seem too good to be true, buyers who refuse to meet, or anyone who pressures you to act quickly. Never share bank details, card numbers, one-time codes or your password. Scammers often try to move you to email, WhatsApp or text - keep contact on Vuxsy so it can be reviewed if needed.
Safe payments
For local deals, cash on collection is simplest and safest. If you use a bank transfer, confirm the item first and beware of "overpayment" and refund tricks. Vuxsy never asks you to pay a buyer or seller through us - the only payments to Vuxsy are for optional promoted listings.
Spotting fake listings
Watch for stock-style photos, vague descriptions, prices far below market value, and sellers unwilling to provide extra photos or meet in person. When in doubt, ask questions and request a live photo of the item.
Reporting abuse
If you see a suspicious listing, scam attempt or abusive message, use Report a Problem or the report option on the listing. Our Trust & Safety team reviews every report.
